Following the AGM, we also invite attendees to enjoy a presentation from Greer Townshend, who is the State Library of Queensland's 2022-23 Mittellheuser Scholar-in-Residence.
A Brisbane-based artist and researcher with a passion for history and storytelling, Greer explores emotion, memory and archetypal symbolism in her work, and is often inspired by Queensland’s GLAM sector collections. She holds a degree in Fine Arts, Canterbury University, and is recipient of a Mainzeal Scholarship, Victoria University, for academic excellence in Art History. She has a decade of film industry experience, including content curation and with Disney animation.
Greer’s experience across Queensland’s GLAM sector includes a 2017 Q ANZAC 100 State Library of Queensland Fellowship, teaching collection-based art workshops at Queensland Museum, and as Media Officer at QAGOMA. Her most recent solo shows were at Museum of Brisbane and Noosa Regional Gallery.
Greer will be speaking on her Mittellheuser project 'I Feel You: Discovering Collections through Emotion', which explores curating collection searches by emotion to create a non-traditional catalogue of bespoke, aesthetically designed pages, with the aim of encouraging wider discovery and greater engagement with GLAM sector collections.
