Camp Itinerary |
The itinerary is based on your ideas and requests. Remember back in November, when we asked you about projects you wanted to explore, technologies you wanted to learn more about? We’re lining them up for you, in 20-min short talks, 1-hr workshops and extended Hacky Hour sessions, that look like this:-
Day 0 |
VALA is delighted to announce a NEW Day 0 program for Tech Camp 2017, made possible by our PD Partner, EBSCO and supported by our Tech Partner, AARNet.
Day 0 (Wednesday 12 July 2017) will feature 2 NEW Workshop opportunities for Tech Campers; cost of attendance is INCLUDED IN YOUR TECH CAMP REGISTRATION FEES. (That’s right, there is no additional cost for Tech Campers to participate in a Day 0 Workshop.) These sessions aren’t mandatory, but seriously, why wouldn’t you? Sessions are of varying duration between 1.00-5.00pm, so check the times for your preferred Workshop carefully; unless you are Hermione Granger, you can only go to one.

Day 1 |
With respect for our flying-in visitors, we’ve delayed our kick-off until 10.00am on Day 1, but then it’s straight into your choice of workshops (3 streams and 5 workshops in total over a 2 hr timeslot), the double-header a crash-course in scripting with Python. All back together after a head-clearing lunch break with 3 back-to-back short talks and panel Q&A. Break for coffee and then a final Hacky Hour(s) sprint to the finish line, when you joint a make-your-own-tech-team to work on wicked problems. Happy Hour to finish the day, we’ll steer you out the door at 6.00pm.

Day 2 |
No respect for Hacky Hour hangovers this morning, we kick off with breakfast onsite at 8.00am. After a quick health check on our Hacky Hours projects, we’re in to a full morning of short talks, stopping only for caffeine. Today’s workshops follow and are also back to back, but relieved by a mid-point lunch break and leg stretch. You’ll need it. Fabulous Hacky Hour ends the day with your wicked problems solved (or at least shared), and your inner geek satisfied. On your way at 4.30pm, in time to miss the worst of the traffic.
